On Monday evening, our school hosted its annual Art Show — an event that fills our buckets with school and community pride. Featuring an impressive collection of this year’s student artwork, the show came together thanks to a huge team of volunteers and staff who began setting up on Sunday.
The evening brought our community together to celebrate creativity, connection - and, of course, to enjoy the obligatory sausage sizzle!
Congratulations to our talented students for their outstanding work, to our Visual Arts teacher, Claudia Michelin, for her leadership and vision, and to all the staff and volunteers who made this year’s Art Show such a success.

Our community is extremely fortunate to have access to Yarrunga Reserve; however, over the course of the year, our school community members have expressed concern to me about the behaviour of some members of the broader community at Yarrunga Reserve Bike Jumps. Whilst this facility is a wonderful asset for our community, particularly our students and local youths, unfortunately, behaviours such as loud, derogatory and abusive language make it an unsavoury place to be on occasions.
To address this concern, I encourage group action from our community. Firstly, for immediate safety concerns, call 000 and report the behaviour to the police for immediate response. In order to address the matter with a solutions mindset, I encourage community members to report the matter to the Maroondah Council. Whilst the police are responsible for the immediate safety of the community, it is the local council that oversees the area and has a responsibility to respond to community members' concerns in a proactive way.
This can be done HERE, the Maroondah Council's online feedback form.
