Transitions & Pathways

Pathways

2026 has been a huge year in the pathways realm, giving every student at Homestead the ability to explore, discuss and revise their future pathways. As a pathways school, the importance of students picking their own programs based on where they want to be post schooling is of the utmost importance.

Each year level has been able to delve into their own pathways through various key events throughout the year. These events include: Course Counselling, Careers Day/Expo, Information evenings discussing the VCE and VCE VM, Year 12 pathway discussions throughout the year and many many more.

But even as we write this column, the year is still not done! Our year 12 students now eagerly await their results after a solid year of sacrifice and hard work. Results will be released at 7am on the 11th December, with the ability to then change their preferences and have further discussions with us in the pathways office to help with the next stage of their lives. Congratulations Year 12’s on all your hard work, we can’t wait to see what the next stage brings!

Transitions

This year has been an important one for our students as they navigated key transition points across their learning journey. Throughout the year, students participated in the year 10 Transitions excursion to Luna Park, course counselling, where they engaged in thoughtful conversations about their pathways, strengths and future goals. This process supported informed subject selections for 2026, helping students build confidence in the choices that best align with their interests and aspirations.

We are now looking ahead to the next stage of transition activities. Our Commencement Program will provide students with the opportunity to experience their 2026 classes, meet teachers, and begin preparations for the year ahead.

In addition, our Year 10 Transition Day, held on Tuesday 9 December, will introduce students to the expectations and opportunities of senior school, ensuring a smooth and successful start to their VCE or vocational pathway.

We thank students and families for their engagement throughout the year and look forward to supporting them in the final steps of their transition journey.
