Student Leadership

Student Leaders Introduction
Mahlaqa Shah
Hi everyone! I’m Mahlaqa Shah, currently in Year 11 and one of your 2026 College Captain! In two years at Homestead, I’ve seen it is full of ideas, energy, and voices waiting to be heard. I’m thrilled to work with every student next year and alongside the amazing leadership team. Being your College Captain is a massive responsibility, and I can’t wait to take it on and leave Homestead as a high school everyone remembers for its fun, energy, and great memories! We’ve got a massive cohort coming through, and I’m excited to see familiar faces, meet new ones, and dive into all the exciting things we have planned. Got a thought, suggestion, or even a wild idea? Come find me or any of the other amazing school leaders, we’re always up for a chat and ready to make your ideas happen!
Benjamin Borg
My name is Benjamin Borg, and I am excited to lead Homestead Senior Secondary College in 2026 and contribute to the continued growth of our school community. I look forward to engaging closely with both students and teachers to strengthen our culture and create meaningful opportunities for everyone. Collaboration will be a key focus for me as I work to support a positive, motivated, and future-focused environment. Outside of school, I play AFL football and maintain a strong interest in health and fitness.
Felisa Chawla
Hey Homesteaders, my name is Felisha Chawla, and I am one of the Media and Events Leaders for HSSC 2026. I love to travel and visit new places. In this coming year, our aim is to make sure every voice feels heard and every achievement, big or small, gets the recognition it deserves. We hope to build a sense of connection and pride that everyone can be part of. We're committed to working hard, listening to feedback, and creating opportunities that make our school/community feel even stronger. We can't wait to share this journey with you all and are truly grateful for the chance to represent you and work alongside you.
Sarah Smith
My name is Sarah Smith, I am one of the Media & Events Promotion Leaders for 2026. I am so thrilled about this opportunity, and I cannot wait to introduce new, exciting events for our school. A little bit about me: I have two dogs, I’m interested in F1 and fashion, and in my spare time I love to cook. There are so many ideas in the works for 2026 that the leadership team and I will be dedicated to implementing, and I’m really looking forward to bringing our school community together through fun, memorable experiences. If you ever have suggestions or want to get involved, feel free to come chat with me, I’d love to hear your ideas!
Jamie Green
My name is Jamie Green, and I am the new Music and Performing Arts Leader for 2025. I’ve been part of Student Voice for the past two years, and I’m excited to step into this role and continue supporting our school community. Music plays a huge part in my life; I play guitar and love performing and working on creative projects. Next year, I’m looking forward to collaborating with our students and staff and contributing to a creative and welcoming arts culture. I’m excited for the year ahead and can’t wait to bring plenty of energy and new ideas to our community.
