The BIG FREEZE
On the 30th of April the SRC raised awareness and vital funds to be invested towards care initiatives, finding effective treatments and ultimately a cure for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
MND is a devastating disease and currently, there are more than 2,000 Australians living with MND, with an average life expectancy of just 27 months from diagnosis.
Our Big Freeze event saw nine teachers and one student go down the slippery slide into a pool full of ice and water.
The teachers and student who took the plunge were: Ms Crilley, Mr Smart, Mr Allen, Mr Russell, Mr Vidanovic, Mr Donohue, Ms Caddaye, Ms Duncan, Mr McIntyre, and Charlie ‘Buckets’.
All participants were dressed up in costumes for additional entertainment. The standouts were Mr McIntyre in his 80s workout costume and Ms Crilley dressed as a mermaid. The crowd was very excited by Mr Donohue and Mr Smart's participation and went wild. However, the highlight of the event was Charlie, who dressed as Willy Wonka and threw lollipops to the crowd before sliding.
Thank you to all staff members and Charlie for taking the plunge. And a big thanks to the P.E. staff and Mr Florence for setting up the slide and pool.
