Kindergarten - Australian Early Development Census
Along with most schools around the country, our school will be participating in the sixth Australian Early Development Census – the #AEDC2024. The AEDC helps keep our students on-track by measuring their development across five key areas when they start their first year of full-time school.
We are currently training our Kindergarten teachers to complete the upcoming 2024 Australian Early Development Census for children in their classes.
Next week our Kindergarten teachers will begin the Australian Early Development Census. The AEDC helps to build a nationwide picture of our children’s health and wellbeing as they begin school.
Teachers answer questions about five key areas that are important for children's development:
- physical health and wellbeing
- social competence
- emotional maturity
- language and cognitive skills (school-based)
- communication skills and general knowledge
Once our Kindergarten teachers finish collecting information for the 2024 Australian Early Development Census AEDC, the data is analysed and prepared for publication in March 2025.
The census results are presented for groups of children at local, state and national levels. This ensures children and schools remain anonymous.
