𖥧 Happy Week 5 𖥧
The 4/5/6 learners embarked on a bustling fortnight, kickstarting with a visit to Euroa High School for an immersive experience day.
The learners blew me away with their confidence, enthusiasm, and can-do attitude during their high school experience day. They engaged in four different high school lessons, starting with English, where they delved into character traits and crafted paragraphs expressing their ideas. Next, they immersed themselves in Visual Arts, celebrating diverse cultures by creating striking patterns using lines, shapes, and colours. Their highlight was designing and planting clay cacti into their small pots. Lunchtime brought varied experiences, with some enjoying the relaxed high school yard atmosphere while others found the absence of a playground baffling. In Maths, they explored statistics, probability, and graphing, before delving into Medieval history in Humanities, focusing on coat of arms. Creativity shone as they designed their own shields with mottos, symbols, animals, and colours.
Overall, it was a amazing opportunity for them to sample high school life, with feedback ranging from loving making new friends, finding the canteen experience surprisingly enjoyable and it not being as daunting as they expected.

Literacy
We continued to enhance our writing skills by incorporating adjectives and adverbs to add flair to our sentences. This week, we focused on applying this skill to our writing pieces. We began by discussing the importance of planning our writing beforehand to ensure it flows and is easy for our reader to follow. After trying this approach, learners practised the skill of self-monitoring, using a rubric to assess their own writing. This process enabled learners to recognise their writing strengths while also acknowledging individual challenges, which help us to know what our areas for growth and learning are.

Numeracy
Amidst an exciting Battleship Tournament, we're diving deep into our learning on grid referencing and map point location. What's particularly exciting is that this tournament was initiated by the kids, and they've taken ownership of it with enthusiasm. Collaboratively, they crafted game boards and leaderboards, updating them regularly throughout the tournament. Some channeled their creativity into crafting 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place medals. It's been a joy to witness them apply their understanding of grid referencing while demonstrating problem-solving and strategic thinking. The tension continues to build as Monday we determine our 4/5/6 Battleship Champion!

Connection
Connection has remained the focal point of our learning this term. We are continuing to make it a priority to connect with each other and Country. On Thursday afternoon, we immersed ourselves in our stunning garden. It was my first experience being there with the kids, and it was pure bliss! Observing them support one another, collaborate, inquire curiously about the workings of nature, and simply relish each other's company was a delight. Our 4/5/6 learners are a remarkable bunch, and I feel incredibly fortunate to spend five days a week with them!
