Principal's Report

PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Welcome back.

Term one seemed to whizz by, with lots of learning, events and opportunities for our school community. Thanks to Anne for her great leadership during term 1, and I would like to thank everyone for their support while I was Acting Principal at the end of the term. Nathan Jones will be in this role for the first two weeks, until Anne returns.

One of the highlights of the end of term one was the Food Bank fundraiser. It was wonderful to see our students raise a significant amount of money for Food Bank, and to enjoy the slime/colour run. That slime was certainly cold when I was lucky enough to be slimed by a student. We also enjoyed saying farewell to Dot, and I was very impressed with the outfits that our students and staff dressed in on the final day of the term to honour Dot.

This term is a long one, with eleven weeks. It also coincides with the end of Autumn and the beginning of Winter, so we need to look after ourselves, physically and mentally, for the long haul. We have Thursdays off in weeks 2 and 3 for ANZAC Day and Warrnambool Race Day.

Thankyou to the parents/guardians and students who came to Parent Teacher Interview day. It’s always a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the work undertaken already and to set goals for the work to come.

To coincide with Education Week, we will be having a school breakfast, open to everyone, from 8.30am on Monday, May 13, followed by open classrooms in period 1. Another great opportunity to see the learning that goes on at school. If your children are like mine, I can’t get much out of them after school about their day, so come along and see what really happens at school.

Congratulations to Clancey Greene who has been selected for the lead role of Ariel in the Primary Performers production of The Little Mermaid later this term. Good luck Clancey.

Just a reminder that the car park outside the Activity Center has two rows - one for parking and the other for drop off/pick up. Please do not park in the drop off zone and leave your car as it breaks the flow of traffic. Our primary purpose at school is to educate our students and keep them safe, as you entrust us as their guardians when they come to school. We all appreciate your assistance with this.

Hope your Easter and holiday break was restful and that your child/ children are ready to spread their wings even more this term.
