In the Garden
What a fabulous two weeks we have had in the garden! The weather has been perfect for gardening and we have achieved so much. We have pruned, weeded, continued to prepare our last bed to be planted and even managed to replant one of the wicking beds that had been top dressed and ready to go. We have added kale, onions, cauliflowers and some more snow peas to our garden. The snow peas are going to climb up a new "wigwam" made with canes and twine/wool. This week we also managed to harvest enough silver beet, beetroots and basil for the kitchen group. Don't forget to come and have a look at the garden on Open Night and get your passport stamped! You might win a prize at the end of the night.
In the kitchen
Last week we spent our kitchen session learning how to rub butter into flour to make over 200 delicious scones for the special mums and mother figures in our lives. If you were able to join us last Friday, we hope you enjoyed this special treat. A special thank you to Saige, Parvati, Alisa, Zaara, Josie, Callum C, Grace, Bonnie and Miriam for helping Mrs Fuller, Miss Emily, Miss West and Mrs Dennehy during lunchtime, preparing the scones with jam and cream.
Here are Viraat and Hemish hard at work with the scone dough!
This week, the kitchen groups learnt how to make fresh pasta and we used the delicious variety of green leaved vegetables growing in the garden to make a sauce to accompany it. Feel free to download the recipes to use at home using the links below.
Please visit Mrs Dennehy in the Art room during our Open afternoon to taste test a delicious chocolate muffin with a secret ingredient from our garden... will you be able to guess what it is?
