This Week's Notes

ANZAC Tradition and Spirit Lives on 'Lest We Forget'

This week was again another very special week at Cavendish Primary School and for myself as the Acting Principal.

ANZAC Day at Cavendish

On Thursday, despite the rain and waking up early morning, our school school captain Mietta and vice captain Pippa continued the school legacy by laying a wreath at the Cavendish ANZAC Day service on behalf of our school. I would like to thank Pippa's mum, Claire for making such a beautiful and most meaningful wreath for our school. When it came to the laying of the wreaths I was a bit confused as unfortunately there was a bit of a mix up and the speaker announced Alexandra College to lay a wreath but it was our school and students from Baimbridge College. Maybe we need to ensure this is correct for next year.

I was incredibly moved and very proud of being part of such a special service at Cavendish. It was extra special to meet the veterans, ex-servicemen and their families and in particular listening to Blake Douglas's inspiring speech about his experiences serving in the Australian Defence Force.

This was another of many opportunities where I got to meet exceptional members of our community. Each week and after each event, I feel more and more privileged and overwhelmed with such a welcoming community. Thank you.

Cross Country

Our school cross country event will be held down at the Wannon River as in the past on Thursday 2nd May.  Parents/family members are more than welcome to come down and cheer on the students.  The students will be walked down to the river by staff.  If you are collecting your child from the event, please remind them to carry their school bag down to the river.  The running will start at approximately 1:45pm

Principals' Glenelg Network Meeting

On Thursday, 2nd May, I will attend my first network meeting with all the principals in the Glenelg network area.

Division Athletics

This will be held on Friday 3rd May in Warrnambool for selected students ages 9-12 and their families.  Students will need to be transported by their families. Further information will be sent out to families as it comes to hand.

Smile Squad

For families that had children attend the Smile Squad Dental Van last year, they will be returning to Cavendish PS on Wednesday 1st May to do some checkups.

Staffing next week

Miss McLeod will be teaching the Year 2 & 3 class next Monday and a new Casual Relief Teacher, Darryl Fry will be teaching the Years F &1 on Wednesday while Miss Gray attends a PD session.

Clean Up

Thank you to some of our wonderful students who helped clean up some fallen leaves in the school yard. They raked and blew the leaves away leaving the paths looking much more neat and tidy. Great job!

Volunteers for the Mooralla Golf Day

We are looking for parent volunteers for our Ladies Golf Day. It would be great to have more parents as part of such a significant event organised by our Parents Club each year.

Please contact Callie Leese, if you would like to help, we are happy for grandparents, aunties, uncles, or friends to lend a hand.

Bird Boxes Still Available

Although these were a big hit at our community festival, we still have many Bird boxes for sale. Please contact the school to secure your bird box and help school raise funds.
