Year 7 Camp Adventures

On Monday 24th April, the Year 7’s set out for camp at Halls Gap. The ride was long and bumpy but many of us played games along the way, keeping ourselves entertained.

The first group’s activity was the Pinnacle hike. We had to hike 2.7km up the mountain before we were split into two groups; the slow and steady group and the speedy but careful group. Once we arrived back at the bus, we regrouped and headed off to Abseiling. Half our  group hiked 100m up to the top of a rocky hill, where we met our instructors, who demonstrated how to abseil down the rockface. The other half of the group waited at the bottom where they learned how to belay those who were abseiling.

After a busy day of activities, we enjoyed a night in front of the fire, with Mr Wright playing games, including Magic Sticks and ‘I’m Going to the Moon’.

On Day Two, Group One went to High Ropes first, while Group Two went Canoeing. We had so much fun canoeing! Our instructor's name was Lucy and she was great. After our morning activities, we all went to The Halls Gap Zoo. There were lots of animals including Rhinos, reptiles and even a donkey! There were also deer wandering around, which we were able to pat.

On our last night we had a trivia competition. Mr. Severino came to spend the night and we had so much fun. The trivia went for five rounds and in the final round each group had to create their own talent show. The teachers were our judges and we were given just eight minutes to come up with an idea.

On the last day we packed up our cabins and went off to our final session's. Our last activity was the High Ropes Course, which we all enjoyed despite being really tired.

We would like to thank all those involved in organising and attending our camp; we had a great time!
