CHAIR’S REPORT
2024 JOHN PAUL II CATHOLIC SCHOOL ADVISORY BOARD
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
TUESDAY, 9 APRIL 2024
Another successful year has passed for our Advisory Board. John Paul II Catholic School is going ahead in leaps and bounds. This is due to the consistent and forward-thinking leadership of Brendan Gill, his Leadership Team and his staff. Magnificent strides have been undertaken in literacy and numeracy for the students in all year levels. All aspects of the curriculum receive emphasis, so the students have many, many opportunities to flourish and succeed. This is due to the ‘feel of the school’ where bright young faces relish all that is offered to them by the teachers and support staff.
Of note is the excellence in master planning to provide staff, students and parents with superb educational facilities and programs. The Little Dove Café is a wonderful initiative that provides students (and staff) with wholesome, nutritional food to enhance their cognitive abilities. The new library will be the hub of the school, providing students and staff with a wide range of literacy based activities, as well as a warm safe space for collaborative learning and story telling.
Strategic Planning is at the very heart of what makes John Paul II such a vibrant community. The three elements of the current Strategic Plan focus on Teaching and Learning, Positive Behaviour Management and Projects, all of which will undoubtedly continue to raise the profile of the school as a school of choice for families.
As Chair of the Board, I feel extremely proud of the school and its significant place in Tasmanian Catholic Education. It is such a privilege to be the Chair of this Advisory Board and to witness the extraordinary growth, not only in the student population, but also in numerous educational aspects of the school.
I express my gratitude to our Board Members for their endeavours, support and a genuine desire to assist Brendan and his staff through their willingness to offer guidance and advice in our discussions and discernment. It is a pleasure to work with you on the John Paul II Advisory Board.
Finally, a tremendous thank you and endorsement to Brendan for his untiring capacity for ensuring that this school is the very best it can be! Thank you, Brendan!
