Music in Motion

MUSIC - Kinder to Grade 6

It certainly has been a busy term in music classes!

Kinder - Grade 2 participated in a concert when Rachel and Tim from the TSO came to our school and taught students all about their instruments - the flute and the tuba. They learned about how each instrument makes its sound, its role in the orchestra, and sang and danced along to lots of fun songs. Students even got to be the conductors!

Students have also been focusing on using movement as a way to show the beat and express the form and structure of music. Our new coloured scarves have assisted greatly with this endeavour and students have enjoyed improvising movements which reflect the tempo, mood and structure of the music. We even used the scarves in one of our favourite games “Draw a Bucket of Water”, and students accompanied the song on the Xylophones.
