ANZAC Day Service
It has been an enjoyable first fortnight of term with the warm weather seeing students active in the grounds during their recess and lunch breaks. The new nature playground and bike track in the Little Wollies and Talkabout 4 precinct is proving a real hit with the students as they have their own play space for the first time. The ovals, Year 2-6 playground and Secondary space net and basketball half court continue to be popular.
The Secondary Colours Assembly held on the Wednesday morning of Week 1 was a terrific showcase of student sporting achievement from Term 1 plus recognition of those students who are serving on one of the Leadership Councils. Thank you to the parents and family members who attended the assembly in support of their children.
ANZAC Day Commemoration
For over a century Australians have served in conflict and in peace around the world, protecting the values of freedom and democracy. Each year the School commemorates this service and the great debt we owe the men and women of our Australian Defence Force for their courage and sacrifice.
This morning students from Pre Primary to Year 12 participated in a moving ANZAC Day Service, led by students, commemorating those who served in World War 1 where the ANZAC spirit was forged at Gallipoli and then in the battles of the Western Front; those who served in World War 2 and wars in the ensuing decades; to the many present day conflicts. Australians serve with distinction around the world. For those who have served, and who continue to serve, we offer our thanks. We also take the opportunity to remember those who are no longer with us.
ANZAC Day Service
Chaplain Justine closed the service with the following prayer:
God of love and liberty, we bring our thanks today for the peace and security we enjoy.
We remember those who in time of war faithfully served their country. We pray for their families, and for ourselves whose freedom was won at such a cost.
Make us a people zealous for peace, and hasten the day when nation shall not lift up sword against nation.
This we pray in the name of the one who gave his life for the sake of the world: Jesus Christ, our Redeemer.
Amen.
Parent Meetings
Thank you to parents who attended the Secondary Parent -Teacher Evening in recent days. The staff value the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your child's progress. Whilst these are formal opportunities for discussion and feedback, you are always welcome to make an appointment to speak with your child's teacher.
Winter Uniform
As previously advised, students in all years are required to wear Winter Uniform from Monday 29 April. Whilst the days continue to be mild, temperatures are gradually dropping and the mornings are chilly. I look forward to seeing our Year 3 students in formal Winter Uniform for the first time. Year 12s can wear their Leavers' jacket as an outer garment unless attending Chapel, assemblies and formal school events when the School blazer is compulsory.
Have a lovely weekend.
With best wishes
