Level 4

Level  4

The big build up to our Sovereign Hill camp was exciting and we are so happy to report that students and teachers had a wonderful time last week.

The students experienced many new opportunities including candle dipping, gold panning, confectionary making, visiting the mines, the Aura Light show, bowling, and educational sessions focusing on STEM and immigration. There really was something for everyone. It was a joy to see the students engaging in these activities and working together. We are really proud of our students, they represented themselves and HEPS brilliantly.

Thank you for providing this opportunity for your child/ren and thank you to Nat Sindrey who gave her time, support and care over the 3 days we were away.

Student Camp Reflections

I loved the AURA show and the gunfire was really loud. I learnt about the miners and the stockade. I got to celebrate my birthday while we were on camp and woke up with my bed covered in balloons! I liked panning for gold in the gully and found a few tiny specks of gold.

I loved the pantomime in the old theatre and got to see the theatre from the second level. It was very old. The cabins were great and I enjoyed spending time with my friends. I liked going shopping in the main street and looking at all the old things. I bought a candle, some raspberry drops , a toffee apple and a bar of soap for my mum. It was really cool looking back into the past.

I really enjoyed the AURA Lightshow. The 3D movie session told us about the gold found in the Earth and then we travelled on a bus into the bush to watch a light show about the Indigenous community and the Bunjil eagle. We then saw a show that told us all about the miners and their lives on the goldfields, as well as the Eureka Stockade. I loved the camp and had a terrific time.
