Principal's Message
Wawa, Wominjika.
Here at Old Orchard Primary School, we acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land we visit each day, the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurru people of the Kulin nation. We acknowledge and respect the elders and leaders past and present and the elders and leaders of all of the cultures and nationalities that are part of the Old Orchard Primary School community. We express our gratitude towards the orchards that were kept in place by the peoples on this land before us.We thank the traditional owners for sharing this beautiful land that we all love, and for keeping the land, sky, waterways and animals all in great condition for thousands of years, not only for themselves but for all the generations to come.
Cross Country
Best wishes to our students from Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 who will be participating in the District Cross Country at Ruffey Lake Park tomorrow. We look forward to hearing about their exploits. Run well!
Education Week

- Prep Discovery
The Prep team will still host a Discovery Session open to only Prep parents on Tuesday 14th from 10:30am to 11:30am.
- Open Evening
Old Orchard's Community Open Evening will be held from 5.00pm - 7.00pm on Thursday 16th May.
- Book Fair
The annual Old Orchard Bookfair is underway and will continue throughout Education Week. This is always a highlight of the year and our students and families love the opportunity to browse new books and other goodies. Thanks to Ruth Wong & Jennifer Hurlburt as they embark on their first ever Bookfair!
Newsletter re-branding
We are in the process of giving our newsletter a new name, something that is catchy, succinct and reflects our school’s history & culture. We would welcome any suggestions, which can be submitted by emailing Sheree at sheree.knight@education.vic.gov.au - could be a good family dinner table discussion.
Mothers’ Day
Mothers’ Day & Fathers’ Day have always been significant days at Old Orchard where we can acknowledge and celebrate the significant people in our children’s lives. This week, the focus is on the mums and other special women in our school community who make such a fantastic contribution to our children’s lives. Our Mothers’ Day Stall and special Mothers’ Day Morning Tea have been highlights for everyone involved and we are very appreciative of all those who have contributed:
Robert Simpson, Silvia Vogel, Aurelia Mioduszewski, Deanna Edsall, Nicole Chan, Karen Barr, Jess Kuc, Leah Delany, Jo Fernando, Deanna Edsall, Nellie McLean
Kerryn Keyhoe, Claire Grattidge (with Benjamin and Steph Richardson (with Ollie).
To all our mums and special women who are part of the Old Orchard community, we wish you a very happy Mothers’ Day this coming Sunday. You are amazing.
Kind regards
