Foundation - Year 1/2 

Throughout these first weeks, students have achieved significant progress in their musical education. They dedicated time to revisiting and understanding the importance of music classroom expectations, laying a solid foundation for future learning and collaboration. Additionally, they immersed themselves in the joy of movement by dancing to the lively rhythms of 'El baile del cuerpo', embracing the cultural richness embedded within the music. Their exploration extended to the world of percussion instruments, where they not only learned the names of three key instruments in Spanish - Maraca, Tambor, and Clave - but also delved into understanding their unique sounds and roles in music creation. Through hands-on exploration and auditory discovery, students developed a deeper appreciation for the diverse soundscape of percussion, fostering their musical curiosity and creativity.

Year 3-6 

Students have truly blossomed in their musical journey! They kicked off the term by refreshing their memory on class rules and routines, ensuring that everyone could collaborate effectively and create a harmonious learning environment. Then, they embarked on an exciting adventure into the world of music theory, discovering that music isn't as complicated as it may seem. Through exploring 'The major scale', they found out how simple and understandable music can be, and they even got to express their understanding by creating eye-catching posters to decorate their folder. But the fun didn't stop there! They also had the opportunity to dive into the vibrant rhythms of Africa with the introduction of the Djembe drum. Learning about the Djembe's origins, the natural materials used to make it, and the wide range of sounds it can produce with the right technique was both fascinating and enriching for them. This hands-on exploration not only deepened their understanding of different cultures but also sparked their curiosity to explore more musical traditions from around the globe. Overall, it has been an exhilarating journey filled with discovery, creativity, and the joy of making music together!
