Waste Wise Wednesday

Parents, we would like to inform you that we are starting Waste Wise Wednesday.

Last week was Earth Day. The theme for this year is Planet vs Plastic. We have decided as the students of St Philip to take action to save our planet.

On Wednesdays we will aim to be waste free and not use plastic or wrappers. We will encourage all of the students and staff to use containers, thermoses, Bento boxes and if you can beeswax wrappers or reusable wrappers.

We encourage families to be mindful of the amount of plastic wrappers/rubbish that is used each day.

Thank you for your support with Waste Wise Wednesday.

Swimming Program

The students enjoyed swimming lessons at Aqualink in Nunawading. The program falls within the Victorian Water Safety Certificate Guidelines which describe specific competencies that should be achieved by the end of primary school. These competencies identify the knowledge and skills to enable students to safely enjoy water-based activities in calm and shallow aquatic environments. The competencies focus on water safety knowledge, rescue skills, survival sequences and the ability to swim a continuous distance of 50 meters. The students  from Prep to Grade Four participated in the program this week.

Cross Country Running Club

Some of our students from Grades Four to Six will compete in the district cross country next month. To help them prepare for this event we will be holding a running club from 8.40 am until 8.50 am from next Monday, 6 May. The running club will continue to be held on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays for two weeks.  All students, and parents/friends are very welcome to join.
