We are learning to make predictions about the text based on knowledge of similar texts.

VOCABULARY

Prediction: an educated guess about what is going to happen in the text.

Content: the subject or ideas in something written or represented.

Personal: Something concerning one particular person. 

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Read a text with your child, get them to make predictions about the text as they are reading. Ask them to justify with evidence from the text using content knowledge, personal experience and connections to similar texts. As they read the text, get your child to decide whether their prediction has been confirmed or changed.
