And now a word from

Traffic around the school

Thank you to the parents and carers who are working hard to ensure a smooth and safe flow of traffic around our school at drop off and pick up times.  It is timely to remind everyone of the systems and rules that we have in place if you are dropping off and/or picking up students in the Kiss & Go Zones at the front and back of the school:

  • Kiss & Go Zones are for dropping off or collecting children for maximum of two minutes
  • The driver must remain in or within 3 metres of the vehicle.
  • The staff at the gates will help children to depart vehicles, put bags on backs etc so it is really helpful if you do not leave your vehicle unless absolutely necessary.
  • If you do need to get out of your car it needs to be a very quick goodbye – please do not put jackets on, do hair etc whilst keeping the line of traffic waiting.
  • The traffic flows smoothly and safely if cars pull through the Kiss & Go Zone in order of arrival- cars should park as close to the beginning of the zone as possible and at departure times should continually move into the space in front.
  • Please do not overtake the line of cars waiting to park and then try to reverse park into a space in the middle of the zone. This is dangerous and also holds up the traffic trying to get past the school. We will keep the traffic moving as quickly as possible so please be patient and wait until it is your turn to pull through.
  • Please do not park over the driveways – these are no standing zones and hefty fines have been enforced for stopping in these spaces.  At the rear of the school, parking over the drive also blocks access for pedestrians trying to cross the road and enter the big gate.
  • Please respect our neighbours and do not park across driveways or on nature strips.

If you have babysitters or grandparents collecting or dropping off children, it would be really helpful if you could make them aware of the rules around the Kiss & Go Zones. These areas move smoothly if everyone is patient and considerate of others. Our prime goal is to keep our children safe.

WOW (Walk or Wheels Once a Week)

We're pleased to announce our participation in the WOW (Walk or Wheel Once a Week) program, in collaboration with the City of Kingston. What's WOW? It's our initiative to promote walking or wheeling to school every Friday, starting 2nd May until Friday 7th June. Each class will track their participation on a WOW wall calendar, competing for the prestigious Golden Boot Award!

Why WOW? Along with the Council, we want to encourage healthy habits and reduce traffic congestion around the school. By walking, riding, scooting, or skating to school, students not only improve their health but also contribute to road safety awareness.

Speaking of road safety, let's brush up on some important tips:

  • Use 'Stop, Look, Listen, and Think' before crossing the road.
  • Cross roads in the safest spot.
  • Slow down near driveways.

Let's make every Friday a WOW day, promoting health, safety, and community spirit!
