Our vision for reconciliation is a unified, respectful and thriving community that embraces Australia's First Peoples for their experiences of the past, their resilience in the present and their aspirations for the future. Each year we explore themes of reconciliation through a week of insightful free events.
Kulin Nation bushtukka woman Cassie Fisher-Patterson will host flora and fauna tours. Cassie will share her extensive knowledge of traditional and medicinal uses of native plants, and how to identify edible native plants.

Join us in the library for a special StoryTime full of stories, songs and rhymes.
We are honoured to host Taungurung artist and author Cassie Fisher-Patterson, who will enchant us with a special reading of her book, An Important Message from Mr Beaky.
The reading will be followed by a Mr Beaky inspired craft session.

Join us as we come together as a community to honour the journey towards healing and reconciliation on this significant day of remembrance and reflection. Immerse yourself in an evening of cultural celebration, featuring an interactive performance by Djirri Djirri Dancers and engage in arts and crafts activities. The evening includes a Smoking Ceremony, followed by a Welcome to Country and an address from the Mayor. Additionally, explore the Gallery to experience the Confined 15 exhibition, showcasing over 400 artworks by more than 380 First Nations artists.

Confined 15 includes artworks by First Nations artists currently in or recently released from prisons across Victoria. Featuring a diverse selection of over 400 artworks by more than 380 artists.Confined 15 presents a strong visual metaphor for the over-representation of Indigenous people in the criminal justice system and showcases the power of culture in the process of healing and reconnection.

These are the ceremony grounds of the Murray River people of Swan Hill. The life of the Murray and the spirits of our old people are where our ceremonial grounds are. Join us for live music in the Gallery on the second Sunday of every month!
Get ready to be captivated by the versatile vocals of Olivia Meg. Blending elements of indie folk and rock, Olivia has coined her own genre “sad girl indie folk rock”, reflecting her refusal to conform to norms and her dedication to authenticity. Her music delves into the depths of human emotions, offering candid and reflective lyrics that strike a chord with listeners.

Come and learn Indigenous weaving techniques with an artist from The Torch, surrounded by the amazing works on display in the Confined 15 exhibition.
Listen to the artist’s family’s stories about the cultural tradition of weaving and learn how to make a woven basket or a piece of jewellery.

Exhibiting in Gallery Two is free — curatorial advice and installation assistance is available to support first-time exhibitors.
