Professional Learning

Schools are certainly busy places and so much has happened since I last wrote in the newsletter.

This year we have continued our partnership with Bronwyn Ryrie Jones (Teaching and Learning Consultant) who will work with teachers and leadership at the school in a coaching role over 6 days across the year. On her first visit at our school for 2024 Bronwyn observed our PLC leaders teaching in classrooms.  She provided feedback on her observations about practice to our leaders and we worked together to identify areas for future improvement.  Bron was extremely complimentary about our:

  • Current approaches to teaching and learning including the teachers ability to use responsive teaching techniques to ensure high level learning occurring in classrooms
  • Consistency of practice across the school in each year level
  • Student engagement and student participation in lessons

Bron will begin her coaching cycle with staff this week.  She will be working intensively with all the PLC leaders and the leadership team to support us in attaining our key school priorities and supporting teachers to further develop their teacher practice.

As I walk around the school, I too continue to be amazed by the high level of engagement and learning that is happening in classrooms.  Our prep students are straight into their phonics routine each morning.  Check them out!

The 1-6 Tabloid Sports Day was a high energy session where students were able to work in house colour teams led by our Grade 6 Student Leaders.  The leaders were amazing in their ability to engage all the students in the different activities on the park and show their leadership skills to the community.  We were so proud of them.  The team and Kabooz Sports certainly brought a lot of energy and fun into the afternoon of community activities.  Sessions like these help build school community and engage students to work with others outside their class and cohort, often leading to longer lasting friendships.
