Endeavour House News

Our beautiful boarding house has been a hive of activity all term. The girls have done an amazing job to stay on top of all things school/life/friends/boarding. When I think of everything that's been happening, it's quite a lot and I'm sure everyone will enjoy the holiday break! Activity has included the incredible school camp opportunities, finishing off summer sport commitments, jumping straight into winter sports trials, engaging with boarding rec each weekend, attending Academic Support ('accas') and working hard on academics in house and, on top of all that, the girls are constantly challenged by friendships, emotional changes, technology...it's tough being a teenager! Fortunately, as Boarders, the girls understand they are all in this together and they will all have their ups and downs.

International Women's Day

Each day is an opportunity for us all to be our best selves and to remember to be grateful for the incredible opportunities and conversations available to us. This was reinforced recently when Endeavour House celebrated International Women’s Day and had the privilege of listening to guest speaker, Professor Kirsten Auret. Kirsten’s story was completely inspiring, the girls were enthralled by her compassion, work ethic, leadership and dedication to her family and those in need. Afterwards, the girls discussed their key take aways;

  • ‘Show up’ every day, for yourself and for others
  • When you know something feels right, listen.
  • Lead from the front (set an example), back (push when needed) and side (listen).
  • Connections are so important
  • When people are sick or at the end of their life, material possessions don't matter, it's friendships and love that really count.

Poppy Ford has very kindly written a short reflection about her first term of Year Eight at Endeavour House:

The start of Year Eight has come with a few challenges, a few laughs and most of all, memories. The Year Eights have learnt a lot from these past few weeks. A few challenges have been learning about consequences of our mistakes, like giving a belly button piercing to a friend of ours and hair dye disasters. We had learnt, by doing the piercing, it was a bad idea and that it could lead to infections in the stomach. We have had laughs while playing games outside, talking in the common area, dancing on Just Dance and many more exciting things. Some of my highlighted memories this term have been talking, dancing, cooking, and playing sports with people we are surrounded with. Some other great memories must be going to play floorball at the gym, as well as watching the new oven getting put in, it was very entertaining.

Birthdays

Our first birthday of the year was recently celebrated by Matilda Chitty who turned 13 in February, with Anne Fitz Gibbon turning 14 in March.  Happy birthday girls.

Thank you to all families for their regular engagement across the term.
