From the Boarding Captains

Term One has absolutely whizzed by. Being such a short term with only nine weeks the events at school and boarding have been jam packed in.

This last Sunday we had one of my favourite events at boarding, the Master Chef. All the houses mixed into groups and cooked up a storm. There was pasta, curries, burgers and many more amazing dishes that was produced for the judges. It was a close competition with the top three teams only being two points apart. In the end the chicken and chips with naan bread and roasted pineapple won. A very close second was the mango chicken curry. Congratulations to all the teams it was such a fun night and it was amazing to see everyone getting involved and working together.

The previous weekend we had a St Patrick's themed Sunday Session. Steven organised a quiz on the theme which was a bit on the hard side with winners getting 4/11 but it was overall a great time. There was great engagement in the theme with many getting into the spirit and dressing up in green. Chef Jeremy prepared some Irish stews for us to try and some homemade bread to go along with it. A big thanks for the kitchen staff for putting in so much effort so we can enjoy events like these. The behind the scenes work is very much appreciated.

This weekend we also had the Easter Egg hunt. This was very much enjoyed with teams running all over the school and boarding after clues leading them to chocolate prizes. These clues were team specific with teams running in all directions. Two Anchorage boys’ teams decided the next day to compete and see who could complete all the clues the fastest. One group won with a time of one hour and 22 minutes to complete the whole course with all the team’s clues. A good effort from those boys. It was a very enjoyable rec. Thank you to Carter and the boarding Girl Guides who organised this fantastic night.

These were just the tip of the iceberg of rec with many more beach trips and golf ranging happening on the side. I hope everyone has had a wonderful Term One and have safe travels home for the Easter holidays.

Hello everyone and welcome to the final Boarding Buzz of the term. What a busy term it has been, with many activities and events that happened. Even though the term is shorter than usual, I am sure it has been a big and exiting change for the new boarders. By now they have settled into the Boarding community quite nicely and are familiar with their routines like all the other year groups.

There have been many events over the term. In Week Two, the Year Twelves had their school ball where everyone had a magnificent night and will look back on the photos for many years to come. In Week Three the year nines went away on camp to Walpole where they experienced new things from abseiling to cave exploring.

In Week Seven the Year Eights went to Camp Kennedy where they went sailing and visited the old folks home. (Can’t forget to mention how they had to walk 13 kilometres on the Bibbulmun Track.) In the same week the Year Ten’s went on the Leeuwin where they sailed from Albany to Fremantle and had an amazing time learning how to control the boat.

Every Sunday night this term we have had all boarding dinners. This would consist of a couple of helpers each week cooking the barbeque for the rest of the boarding community. There are a couple of games like corn hole, cross net and bean bags to chill on. There are lights as well to brighten the mood and now that the fire restrictions have been lifted, we have had the fire pit going.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the term as much as I have, even if it is the small things like relaxing on the bed after a long day of school. I wish everyone a happy easter and holiday catching up with friends and family and a safe travel home. See you all back next term to do it all again.
