Note: If your child is selected for Division Swimming in Shepparton on Thursday 22nd February, sibling photos will be available from 8am on the Thursday.
Photo form envelopes were sent home with each child last week.
To ensure photo day operates smoothly, each student’s photo envelopes must be returned even if payment has been made online or via a sibling’s envelope.
Sibling photo envelopes are available from the office.
If you lose an envelope, please reach out to the office as spares are available.
School Hats
The weather has been quite warm this past week. In accordance with our SunSmart Policy and Procedure, students must wear their school hat while outside. Please check over the weekend that your child(ren) has this in their bag ready for the week ahead.
Unfortnately, "No hat, no play"
School hats are available for purchase from Cobram Worklocker should you require one.
School Lunchboxes
School lunchboxes can be a troublesome item to prepare each day. Here are a couple of helpful tips that might make the process less tricky!
- Involving your child(ren) in the preparation or selection of their lunchbox items supports in building responsibility around choosing foods that will help their brains think and belly feel full. It may also give your child(ren) an extra sense of control, particularly if they are a fussy eater!
- Write a shopping list together. Take them shopping and allow them to pick the items off the shelf.
- Challenge them to count the amount of colours in the foods in their lunchbox each day and see if they can beat it the next.
- Fruit, crunchy veggies, milk, yoghurt, cheese, meats, grains and cereals are perfect additions to a scrumptious lunchbox.
Practicalities in the learning space:
Classes break at 10am and 12:30pm for brain food.
These times are most successfull when the students' brain food is prepared as bite size chunks and offered in smaller containers or ziplock bags that can be removed from their main lunchbox and stored readily available on their desks.

Scholastic Book Club
At St. Joseph's, we offer families the opportunity to purchase reading material from Scholastic Australia. Scholastic offers families regular access to quality, affordable books while partnering with schools and giving back through the Scholastic Rewards program where every order gives 15% back to your school. This enables us to purchase new reading material for our library. At the beginning of the school year we placed hundreds of dollars of new books in our library for the students to enjoy - all of which were purchased with commission from Book Club sales, so thank you for supporting this incentive.
Last week your child was given a Scholastic Book Club catalogue (ISSUE 1) to take home. Orders can be placed online or sent to school in an envelope with payment, by next Friday 23rd February 2024. Details explaining how to order online are on the inside back cover of the catalogue. If using the online LOOP system to order, please ensure you enter your child’s class from the selected menu using capital letters and no spaces. e.g., FST, 1TA, 2NW, 3FC, 4GK, 5VO and 6KN.
Books always make great gifts for birthdays and other special occasions. If you have any queries, please contact Mrs Natale at school or at carmelnatale@sjcobram.catholic.edu.au
(Two catalogues per school Term)
Library Borrowing
Your child’s class visited the library this week and were given the opportunity to borrow some reading material. Please ensure your child brings their blue folder or another appropriate bag to school each day so that when they visit the library they can borrow. It is important that we teach the children to take care of our books by keeping them clean and free from damage – thus the need for a bag.
The library is also open before school each day (8:30-8:50am), giving students the opportunity to change their books regularly. Students are timetabled to attend the library with their class as well as an opportunity to borrow at the end of their LOTE Italian lesson.
If any parents want to borrow from the library, they are also welcome to. Just pop in and see Mrs Natale and we can set you up.
