Shrove Tuesday
On Tuesday we came together as a school community to celebrate in picnic style, 'Shrove Tuesday'. All students enjoyed eating pancakes with their chosen toppings, like maple syrup, lemon and sugar and jam. We thank our amazing parent helpers and Year 6 students for organising and cooking all the pancakes.
Ash Wednesday Mass
On Wednesday, we came together as a school community with St. Joseph's Parish for our Ash Wednesday Mass. Father Junjun lead the service explaining how Ash Wednesday begins the 40 days of Lent, a time when we remember that Jesus spent 40 days in the desert fasting and resisting temptation. He discussed the importance of Fasting, Prayer and Giving. Throughout this period of Lent students will be learning more about the importance of the Lenten Season during their Source of Life Religious lessons.
Project Compassion
This year, Project Compassion brings you the stories of three resilient women from three different corners of the world. They are facing vastly different challenges, but are all united by one dream: to create a better tomorrow for all future generations.
Meet Ronita from the Philippines. Ronita lives with her husband and two children in a barangay (local district) in Quezon City, which is situated in Metro Manila in the Philippines. She went back to school to finish her education so that she could earn income to support her children.
Meet Leaia from Samoa. Not having access to a reliable source of clean water was very difficult for Leaia and her family. But, with the support of Caritas Australia, a water tank was installed at their home, improving their health and living conditions.
Meet Memory from Malawi. Memory, the eldest daughter from a rural Malawian family, trained to become a carpenter and is now a trailblazer for future generations of women in her village.
Weekday Mass Attendance
Throughout 2024 all classes are invited to attend weekday masses. Students will be encouraged to participate through song, prayer and listening to the Word.
All families are welcome to attend each Wednesday at 9.30 am (students in attendance) and Friday at 11.30am at the St. Joseph's Church.
St Joseph's Award: Faithful
The next award that students will be focusing on in weeks 4, 5 and 6 is 'Faithful'.
'Always Faithful' is our school motto which encapsulates the beliefs and ideals of St Joseph and our school. To be always faithful we need to be constant, true and loyal.
