Uraidla Primary School Parents and Friends

We are a group of parents and friends of the school, who share the vision of an inclusive and welcoming school community. We focus on activities that raise funds for the school and provide opportunities to bring everyone together and feel part of our community. Best of all we have a lot of fun and laughs while doing it.

Originally part of the Governing Council we are a separate group with Margie Sarre, our Principal on both committees, as well as a member of the P&F committee, so there is a crossover of input.

We meet twice a term, and everyone volunteers to run or support different activities throughout the year. You can join the committee or, if you’re short on time, we welcome ad hoc support for events and activities.

P&F activities you can volunteer to help out with include:

  • Willow Café (run after assemblies, hot drinks and snacks)
  • Sausage sizzles for Acquaintance night/ end of year concert
  • Second hand uniform sales
  • Kytons Bakery sale
  • Easter Raffle
  • Bulb Fundraiser
  • School Disco
  • Sports Day cafe
  • Colour Run (bi-annually)
  • Art show (bi-annually)

To join, come along to a meeting (dates in the yearly planner) or email uraidlapandf@gmail.com to express your interest in helping out with events.

Each newsletter we will introduce some members of the committee. Feel free to say hi or ask any of us a question when you see us around the school.

I was fortunate to be part of the P&F from its very inception, with Margie and a wonderful group of parents. My passion for this group lies in meeting others in the school parent body, strengthening our community, as well as helping provide some great opportunities for our kids. My husband Beau and I have three boys, the eldest having just graduated, with the other boys in years 5 and 3.

I joined the P&F in 2021, to be help contribute to the school and meet other parents. I have two children currently in years 3 and 1. I love being able to organise fun events/experiences that light the kids up/enhance the school while bringing the school community together. I also enjoy seeing other parents' skill sets being utilised and celebrated as a team.

Uraidla Primary Facebook Group

If you haven’t already heard about it, there is a FaceBook group for UPS families and we welcome everyone to join (parents/grandparents/carers all welcome). Look for “Uraidla Primary School Families” and answer the 3 simple questions on your connection to the school. This group is a friendly way to find the answers for those questions you may have (e.g. when your child tells you at the last minute its casual day tomorrow, and you can’t remember hearing about it from school!), to get reminders on events coming up, find your lost property!, or a way to connect with other families.

It is not run by the school but is supported by the UPS Governing Council and admin (Jodi Braley) will post information regularly. It is designed to be a group with input from all – so contribute in any way you want to. If you do have a question that you don’t want to post yourself, feel free to forward to Jodi (either by facebook message, email jodi.braley@hotmail.com, or in person at school), who is more than happy to help.

Lost property

A number of school jumpers and items have gone missing already this year. Could everyone please check their child's bag in case the wrong items have accidentally ended up there? Thanks so much!

A Note from Kirrily

I can't believe it's already the end of week 4! It's been a term jam-packed with fun so far, and I've been really encouraged seeing all the kids jump head-on into their learning, and being brave by coming every day even though there are so many new things to take in.

This term's Learn, Stand, Give, Fly focus is Gritty! Someone asked me the other day "what's the bravest thing you've ever done?", which to me is similar to the grittiest thing. For me, it would be hiking the Kokoda Trail in 2016 when I was only 16 years old. It was so incredibly hard to train for, hiking multiple times a week in the lead-up and carrying 15+ kilos of weight on my back. I was scared about so many things. What if I fall down a cliff, what if I'm not strong enough to keep going? What if I feel lonely when I'm so far away from anyone I know? How will I keep my hair clean hiking for 9 days with no shower?! But I did it! And it's the best thing I've ever done. I got to see the most amazing landscapes, learn about WW2 history, have the satisfaction of walking 96 kilometres through impossible terrain, meeting people of different cultures and sleeping in the jungle. I have a greater hunger for trying things I'm scared to do now. I didn't even like hiking before I did this trip, and now I love it!

What's the grittiest thing you've ever done? And how has that spurred you on to try new things? Is there something gritty you would love to do? It might not be hiking the Kokoda trail, could even be as simple as trying a new recipe or speaking to that person who you don't know yet. What's stopping you?!

Looking forward to week 5 with you all!

Enrolment in Reception

If you have a child turning 5 this year, it's time to enrol them to start school. There are some changes this year, and children will either start school in July this year or at the start of 2025, depending on their age.

We are now finalising Reception enrolments for the 2024 mid-year intake.

Enrolments for the 2025 start of year should be finalised by July 5 this year.  Please contact the front office for an enrolment pack!

Harvest Table

Please come and support our Harvest Table near the double glass doors in the main

school building.  Our students are helping to harvest items from the garden that can be sold. We would love to receive any donations of excess produce you may have to sell as well. Please leave your donated items in the staffroom. Thank you!
