Last Friday 1st March, Trafalgar Primary School held a Clean Up Australia Day where kids from each house; Balfour, Davey, McGregor and Uralla, raced to get the most rubbish.
Foundation, Year 1 and 2 cleaned up Area 1 and 2. The year 3 and 4 students cleaned up areas 3 and 4 as well as the back of the school. Students in Year 5 and 6 went to Balfour Park via the high school oval.
All teams tried their hardest and we are glad to say we cleaned up in our community of Trafalgar.
Fortunately Balfour won the annual Clean Up Australia Day cup. Well done to everybody!
On Tuesday this week, the Grade 6 students participating in the Rotary Junior Community Award had the opportunity to meet Naomi Goodin of the CFA Junior Fire Brigade. Naomi introduced the students to all the amazing things they could do as a volunteer with the CFA Junior Fire Brigade and provided the students with information about how they could join in.
As part of the Rotary Junior Community Award, the students are required to complete 10 hours of community service by volunteering with a local group or organisation, assisting someone in need of help, or undertaking regular work in a public facility such as local gardens or playgrounds. Some of our students have chosen to donate their time to working in local op shops, helping elderly neighbours, and volunteering for the local Scout group, and now some are looking forward to joining the Junior Fire Brigade.
Thanks Naomi for such a fabulous talk!
In addition to this, many of the students participated in the Clean Up Australia Day activity at school last Friday which is also part of the award. All of the students worked very hard to clean up our school grounds to make them spick and span again!
Keep an eye out for future articles in the newsletter showcasing some of the ways they have helped in their local community as well as details of all the other amazing things they get up to in their journey to complete the Award.
On Monday the 26th of February, Archie D and Audrey C showcased their swimming prowess at the West Gippsland Divisional Swimming Competition held at Warragul Leisure Centre. Archie secured two podium finishes, claiming 3rd place in both the 9/10 Boys Freestyle and Backstroke events. Meanwhile, Audrey's stellar performance in the 11 Girls Backstroke earned her a well-deserved 4th place. Congratulations to Archie and Audrey for their remarkable performances in the pool this year.
This event marked the conclusion of the 2024 swimming season for our school. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the 2024 swimming season. We look forward to another year of excellence in the pool in 2025!
Junior Gymnastics
Over the past three weeks, our school has been lucky enough to have Liz and Vanessa help out from Leongatha Gymnastics during our Friday sessions. They have been working with the Foundation, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students to build their skills in gymnastics. The students have enjoyed learning how to safely do forward rolls, tuck jumps and some have even endeavoured to do backwards rolls with Liz and Vanessa’s help. We are thankful for the time we have got to spend with Liz and Vanessa.
Soccer Clinics
At Trafalgar Primary School, on the 29th of February, we got to celebrate our Leap Year with a visit from the Trafalgar Victory Soccer Association. The students from Grades 3-6 enjoyed developing their skills with the help of Brooke, Lachie, Chloe and Templar. With lots of fun drills and mini games, the students really were engaged and excited to learn more about Soccer. The Grade 5/6 students were impressed with Templar’s incredible ability to kick the soccer ball from one side of the oval to the other! Thank you so much Trafalgar Victory for a truly special day.
Our Whole School Athletics Day on the 7th of March was a massive success this year! Despite the heat, the students had a fun day competing against one another. With the whole school competing at Joe Carmody Track, students got to cheer on their School House and their fellow teammates.
Foundation students had lots of fun participating in their first Whole School Athletics Day and competing in the Novelty events. It was fantastic to see so many of our parents, family members and carers there to celebrate our students.
Congratulations to our age-group champions and to all our wonderful students who participated on the day. Thank you to Mr White for organising such a terrific day.
Watch out in our next newsletter for many more action photos of the day.
The Parents & Friends Committee would like to report that 245 students ordered almost 280 pizza rolls for this week's school athletics carnival, which is a great outcome for our fundraising efforts.
We hope that students enjoyed their special lunch, and we look forward to providing pizza rolls again in the near future.
Apologies to anyone who may have missed out due to the order form mix up. In future, we will ensure that families are provided with order forms electronically, as well as a paper form, so that no one misses out.
If you have any feedback, questions, would like to help with events, or join our committee, please contact us on tpspandfsecretary@gmail.com
The Parents & Friends Committee thank you for your support.
