Learning Community 2

3/4 Maxine Howard and Nicole Stark

We have begun NAPLAN testing this week and are so proud of our team of Grade 3s. It's a tricky time for us all but we are staying strong and showing great skills of resilience!

In Maths we've been learning about time and length. We made paper clocks and practised making and reading both analogue and digital times. This week when learning about length we made origami frogs and practised measuring the length of their jumps!

During Reading we have revised skills to help us with the NAPLAN style questions, and learned about the Author's Purpose. We have also completed a series of 'reading response' tasks based on our two class serials, Harry Potter and The BFG.

Our Writing focus has been persuasive writing followed by learning about fables. We wrote a persuasive text each on the prompt 'Chocolate is better than lollies.' We were able to come up with some strong reasons! This week when learning about fables, we participated in a Fables challenge where we listened to a few fables and identified the characters, setting and moral. We are beginning to plan our own fables.
