It has been a busy week with students and staff braving some hot weather to ensure learning is maximised and the Farm continues to operate smoothly.

Artificial Insemination Course

Farm West is running an Artificial Insemination course from the 8th - 10th April 2024 (second week of the school holidays). Participants will need to arrange their own accommodation as the College will be closed.

Please confirm interest with the Farm Manager, Tony Abel, by the end of school on Tuesday 27th February 2024. Payment for the course will need to be made directly to Farm West as per the flyer below.

Wagin Woolorama

The annual Wagin Woolorama will be on Saturday 9th of March 2024 with both Day and Residential students invited. This week Mr Curran called for nominations for the various judging events at the show. Leading up to the Wagin Woolorama, there will be after school training to prepare students for the events in which they have nominated for. The dates of the training events will be communicated via HAC Chat.

First Aid Training

All students who are new to the College in 2024 have been enrolled in the First Aid course delivered by St John. The course provides an excellent grounding in first aid and will enable students to perform appropriate first aid procedures and basic life support skills including rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The course will occur at the College on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 27th February (Year 10 Course 1)
  • Tuesday 5th March (Year 10 Course 2)
  • Monday 11th March (Year 11)
  • Tuesday 12th March (Year 10 Course 3)

The cost of the course is included in the student fees already charged to parents. Please contact the College if your child has already recently completed a first aid course at their previous school.

After School Equine

After school equine has commenced and students have been busy cleaning and preparing the section for the year ahead. Thanks to the students for your involvement and hard work.

A reminder that before students are permitted to bring their horse to the College, they need to have completed all relevant documentation including insurance and submit it to the admin office. The Horse Policy has been emailed to parents of students who have expressed an interest in bringing their horse to the College.

Student Rosters

The weekly student roster for Farm has been completed and is displayed around the College. Year 10 and 11 students are encouraged to take special note of the Weekend Stock Roster as their attendance is a requirement of their Farm learning program.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you require further information regarding the Farm Training program.

I wish the College community a restful and enjoyable weekend.
