COVID

As we have a number of students away with COVID, I wanted to clarify the College position in regard to this.

After two days of absence the College will require a medical note, as outlined in the College Handbook. If a medical note is not provided, the College will record the absence as “unauthorised”.

If you test positive for COVID, you should stay at home for at least 5 days and until your symptoms resolve. If you have COVID do not visit high-risk settings (unless urgent medical care or treatment is required) such as: hospitals or residential disability and aged care facilities. For our purposes, the College presents as a high-risk setting in the boarding facility.

Medical notes can be obtained from telehealth if your local GP is unavailable  - Telehealth | Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care

For any further queries please contact the College directly.

Online Safety

Recently there has been some use of online platforms that could be considered "harmful" or "inappropriate". It is really important that families talk over online safety with their children. A lot of very good resources can be found at the commission for online safety. Including strategies for addressing online bullying and inappropriate content.

Subject Changes

If any Year 11 students wish to change their stream (Extension to General) they should first speak with Mrs Pfitzner, Miss Franco and their parents. After this, please make a time to speak with myself to discuss this. One of the first things I will do is contact and discuss this with parents, so it is important that everyone is involved in these decisions.

If students wish to change from Trades to Farm Focus or vice versa, please speak with myself. At present, the Farm Focus group on Fridays is at capacity, so no changes can be made. There are students presently waiting for an opening, so having this discussion is still wise as spots may open up in the future with staff changes or student movements.

OLNA

OLNA will be starting next week for Year 11 and Year 12 students. Emails have been sent to both students and families with practice materials in them, so please make use of the online platform over the weekend.

Parent Interviews

More information will follow shortly in regards to parent interviews which are scheduled for Thursday 28 March 2024.
