Principal's Message

Rachel Baker | Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

VISIT FROM SYDNEY CATHOLICS SCHOOL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Today we were privileged to have SCS Executive Director Mr Tony Farley and SCS Chief of Staff Dr Jacqueline Frost visit St Aidan's. Our school Captains Marley and Chloe began by welcoming our guests to our assembly where we showcased our Choir and Senior Girls Showgroup who all did an amazing job. Thank you to all of the parents who joined us.

Two of our Year 6 students, Phillip and Gi Gi, suggested to Mr Tony Farley and Dr Jacqueline Frost that if they wanted to experience the real St Aidan’s they would need to step into our student's shoes for the day. Tony and Jacqueline were excited to do this and even wore a St Aidan's School Blazer while participating in various K-6 activities as students at St Aidan's.

Tony and Jacqueline participated in the following learning activities:

  • ABC Sounds - Kindergarten
  • Running Races - Year 1
  • Hot Seat - Year 2
  • Grammar Kahoot - Year 3
  • Spelling Review - Year 4
  • Figurative Language Task - Year 5
  • Multiplication Quiz - Year 6

Tony and Jacqueline thoroughly enjoyed their visit to St Aidan's and the students and staff had so much fun showcasing our school and the student's learning.

NATIONAL LEADERSHIP DAY

Last Monday I had the pleasure of taking our School Captains Marley and Chloe and our Vice Captains Zara and Sebastian to the Halogen National Young Leaders Day at Darling Harbour.

This was a wonderful and unique opportunity for these students to gather with hundreds of other student leaders. Our students listened to high profile Australian's share their insights of their own life journey. They spoke of the importance of resilience, positive perspective, perseverence and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.

ST AIDAN'S OPEN DAY

Last Tuesday we had our Open Day which was a HUGE success. Thank you to all who were involved in making our Open Day so successful. Thank you to the families who delivered Open day flyers. Thank you to our amazing Year 6 leaders for giving guided tours to our visitors. We received extremely positive feedback about your mature and informative tours. We had many new families who visited our school on Open Day.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS NSW INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY BREAKFAST

Last Friday myself and some of my Principal colleagues were invited to attend the Catholic Schools NSW International Women's Day Breakfast to celebrate all women who are inspiring and amazing role models. We were privileged to hear the Honourable Tanya Plibersek speak. She highlighted the important role the women of the Church play by inspiring inclusion and putting love at the forefront of all they do. We are so lucky to have so many inspiring women as leaders.

WELLBEING WEEK NEXT WEEK

Next week we will be having Wellbeing Week at St Aidan's. This is a chance for everyone to hopefully take a deep breathe and make a conscious effort to slow down. It is a week where we emphasis looking after yourselves and spending quality time as a family.

There will be NO HOMEWORK set for the students during Wellbeing Week next week. Students will bring home their new Homework Matrix the following week on Monday 25 March.

Have a lovely week!

Warm regards,

Rachel Baker

Principal
