Teaching and Learning

.From Mr Sait P-1
At the beginning of this term our P/1 students have been focusing on reviewing their Number knowledge during Maths learning. We have been concentrating on the formation of our numerals and connecting numerals to number names and then to amounts. We have enjoyed using lots of little manipulative maths during our counting and practicing our fine motor skills at the same time!
From Mr Collins 2-6
I'm back. After an awesome holiday away in QLD I'm back and am already into the swing of things in the 2-6 room. Mathsmates are coming home again for the 3,4,5,6's and my grade 2's are bringing home spelling words to practice for the Friday spelling test. A reminder that we do morning spelling tasks and check our nightly reading prior to school. In Maths this week we brushed up some of our area, perimeter and measuring skills by mapping out our own classroom. In writing we are looking at information reports. On Friday the kids presented PowerPoint's on topics of their choice that they researched and wrote while I was away. We finished our topic of family history and early man with a study of Tollund Man that the kids found fascinating. We start our new topic of animal classification and mini beasts next week. In music we have revisited music notes by relating them to fruits and have moved to different tempos. We may have squeezed in a round of 'the wheels on the bus' with the little kids. Finally, in P.E we have been practicing our bowling skills in preparation for the upcoming Ten Pin Bowling sessions in Bendigo.

Art with Mrs Lehre
Our students have been learning about the famous abstract artist Wassily Kandinsky. They explored his bold use of shape, line and colour, and were particularly inspired by his work Composition 8. Students then created their own versions of this vibrant piece, showcasing their creativity and understanding of abstract art. These wonderful artworks are now on display in the Prep/1 classroom. Parents and carers are warmly invited to pop in and take a look!
