CSPS STEM Spot

Robotics and Coding Club - Friday lunchtime

We have many talented parents in our school community and Maks Lin (father of Sophie in Year 6) has offered to assist in running a lunchtime Coding and Robotics club. This club will focus on project-based learning in robotics and coding and students will have the opportunity to participate in one or two activities. Each project will run for 4 weeks and students from Years 4-6 are invited to apply. Students must be prepared to commit to the whole project over 4 Friday lunchtimes and there is a limit of 15 students for each project.

Project #1: Boat Building & 3D Printing

Maks will guide students through the process of using Tinkercad to design and then print a rubber band-powered boat.

Project #2: Coding with Micro:bit computers

Maks will guide students to design simple games and applications using Micro:bit computers.

If your student is interested in either of these projects, they can come and talk to Ms Patel about joining the club. Project #1 will start on Friday 9 May.

Science Talent Search - applications now open

Science Talent Search - Application Extension - now due Monday 28 April

This competition is open to all students in Years 2-6 who are interested in STEM. Categories include experiments, inventions, creating a science picture storybook, researching a scientific poster and designing board games and computer programs.

Students must be able to work independently with minimal assistance from adults, although Ms Patel will meet regularly to check on their progress. All projects need to fulfil competition requirements. Contact Ms Patel for more details and entry forms.
