ANZAC Day

We conducted our ANZAC day assembly last week on Thursday April 24th. 

We were very honoured to have a two special guests as a part of our ANZAC day assembly each year. We welcomed Wing Commander Mathew Shelley, who is the Officer-In-Charge of the Royal Australian Air Force Museum and is the father of two of our past MPPS students, Oscar and Oliver Shelley. Brent Grapes, Elling’s father, one of our Year 6 students, also joined us and played the Last Post and Rouse beautifully on his bugle.

We also enjoyed Natasha and Krishna playing ‘Honour Him’ by Hans Zimmer. During this beautiful instrumental piece, we took the opportunity to reflect on our gratitude to the many people who have, and still do, dedicate their lives to protect us and our families in war, conflict and peacekeeping operations.

Throughout the assembly, numerous students shared their learning of the ANZACs in the beautiful poetry they had composed. Our School Captains shared the history of the ANZACs, the poem ‘Flander Fields’ and the significance of the poppies.

Thank you to all for joining us for our ANZAC day assembly. We would like to extend a very special thank you to our guest speaker, Wing Commander Mathew Shelley, to Natasha and Krishna, for their talented performance of ‘Honour Him’ and to Brent Grapes, for his beautiful rendition of The Last Post and The Rouse. We were very honoured and grateful to have all of you as part of our special assembly.
