Principal's Report

Dear CPS Community,
Welcome back to Term 2. I hope everyone has had a relaxing break, after the holidays and long weekend, and is ready for a big term ahead.
ANZAC Day Commemorations
To commemorate the National Day of Remembrance we held a whole school assembly conducted by our student leaders on Thursday 24th April. Our student leaders also attended our local RSL ANZAC service. The student leaders were invited to lay a floral tribute on behalf of Craigieburn Primary School during the ceremony. A BIG thank you to the parents and Mr Talbot who assisted on the day.
Easter Bonnet Parade
Also, in our first week back, we held our Easter Bonnet Parade one student from each class was awarded an Easter gift for the most creative bonnet. Thank you to all who took part and congratulations again to all the winners. Hopefully the prize winners were able to enjoy their chocolate goodies. Read on in this newsletter to see the wonderful photos.
Breakfast Club
CPS Breakfast Club runs every morning from 8:20am to 8:40am from Monday – Friday and is open to all students from Prep to Six. While it is available to everyone, it is primarily aimed at supporting families who may need a little extra help in ensuring their child starts the day with a nutritious breakfast. More information about Breakfast Club can be found on Compass.
Community Events and Fundraising Committee (CEFC)
Our Community Event and Fundraising Committee are busily preparing a spectacular sale of goodies for our Mother’s Day Stall and our Engagement Team will be preparing our Mother’s Day Card Making afternoon. Please read on in this newsletter for further details.
To become a Parent Volunteer, all parents are required to take part in a Parent Induction Program. be held on Thursday 5th June & Thursday 19th June 2025. We are offering two sessions on each day morning 9am -10.30am or afternoon 2.00pm – 3.30pm. If you are interested in becoming a parent volunteer or renewing your annual registration, please register your interest at the school office.
Attendance
Schools are regularly provided with various data sets from the Department and unfortunately, our Attendance Data is quite concerning, with a significant amount of our students having more than twenty days of absence from school.
Sometimes it is easy to overlook how many days your child has been absent when they are away for the odd day here and there, but it can add up very quickly and have a significant impact on your child’s academic as well as social development.
We really encourage you to support your child by prioritising school attendance. Schools must approve all absence days, and we are required to only approve those that the Department has listed as being a genuine reason.
Where families take holidays outside the Term break, they are required to discuss this with their classroom teacher and agree to a Learning Plan for the period they are away.
