From Daniel

 Our Principal

Thanks for your support

Right off the bat, I wanted to say thank to everyone who has provided to support to our students this term.  We work hard to build our school community, and your contribution as parents make this possible.

This term we have had parents join us on excursions, in the classroom, on School Council, at breakfast club, on our Colour Run, in the uniform shop, in the canteen, at Twilight School and even on camp! So many parents, so many activities.

Thank you for your time and your energy.  Your contribution to our school not only builds a strong sense of community and provides great opportunities to our students that would not otherwise be possible, but they have a huge positive impact on your own child.

Decades of research has shown that when parents engage in their child’s learning, both at home and at school, student achievement and wellbeing are increased. (AITSL website: Click Here  ).  At Kilsyth PS, we truly value the partnership we are able to build with parents and carers as together we seek to provide the best possible opportunities for students.

The diagram above serves to show the importance of a shared approach to meeting the needs of every child in our school community.

I am very proud of the high level of involvement of our parents.  I particularly want to highlight the hard working Parent Engagement Group, who meet regularly to plan and prepare for our community events.

Thank you!

Do you have time for a quick chat?

I often get asked if I have time for a quick chat.  I always try to answer with "Absolutely, please come in...".   The old phrase of 'my door is always open' is something I try to maintain.  (Even though in these colder months, it is sometimes closed for warmth).  Sometimes, I am already having a quick chat with someone else.  On those occasions, check in with Janine at the office and she will set up a time for you to meet with me.

This time, I am asking the question.  Do you have time for a quick chat?

Starting this Thursday, and every Thursday until the end of term, I will be making coffee in the Library from 8.15am to 9.30am.  I would love for you to stop by for a quick chat.  You will be able to drop your children at Breakfast Club and head over to the library for a coffee and a catch up.  I'd love to hear how things are going for you and your family.  By starting at 8.15am, I am hoping those who need to get to work in the morning will have time to stop by and say "Hi" after dropping their children at school.

I look forward to seeing you, I hope you can make it.
