1WS
1WS have had a GREAT Term 2. In English we have been exploring information texts and writing reports about elephants and sharks, we have had some fun and interesting conversations about the facts that we have learnt. In Maths we have been focusing on partitioning numbers and solving addition and subtraction word problems up to 20. In Art we have learnt about how colours can create a mood or feeling in our artwork, and in Technology the student’s created puppets. We had a fabulous day dressing up as the letter ‘C’ or ‘S’ for ‘Chappy Dress Up Day’. There were some very creative dress up ideas such as a singer, cowboys and cowgirls, cats and soccer players. We also had the pleasure of having Miss McClymont join us for 6 weeks whilst she completed her practicum.
4D
This term, in science, 4D have been learning about materials and their properties. As part of our studies, we conducted a science experiment to investigate the absorbency of different materials to determine how much liquid each material could hold. Students worked collaboratively to test a range of materials—including cotton, chux cloth, plastic and felt—by carefully adding drops of water until the material could no longer absorb any more and began to release the excess water. The experiment allowed students to collect data, compare results, and determine which material was most effective at absorbing liquid. This hands-on investigation not only deepened their understanding of material properties but also encouraged critical thinking, careful observation, and scientific analysis.
5AC
In the past few weeks, 5AC have had a lot of guests in our classroom. Lillian's guinea pigs visited, as well as Dustin's chook, Carol. We've also had Miss Zoe Webb teaching us for the past five weeks finishing off her teaching degree. We said our farewells last Friday and wished Miss Webb all the best in her teaching career.
In Maths, we have been learning about 24-hour time and how it relates and can be used instead of 12-hour time.
Another activity that 5AC has been lucky to be involved with is 'Team Up'. This is run by Sgt Jason Watts and Zane from the PCYC. The students have been learning how to work and communicate with others in a team environment, in a way that is respectful, values all contributions and encourages good listening skills.
