Introducing Our New Library System

We’re excited to announce the launch of Access-It, our new library management system! It will make the library more accessible, user-friendly, and engaging for students.

While we’re in the early stages, things are running as usual, and we’re working on bringing in new features, including the ability for students to log in, browse the full catalogue, reserve books, and create a favourites list.

Thank you for your support as we enhance our library!

Premier's Reading Challenge

The Premier’s Reading Challenge for 2025 is in full swing, and we encourage all students to join in! It's a great way to challenge yourself to read more and earn recognition for your efforts.

Completed forms can be handed in to your teacher or the library. Start reading today and take on the challenge!

Borrowing

Just a quick reminder of how borrowing works in the library:

Reception -  Can borrow 4 books

Years 1, 2, 3, 4 -  Can borrow 8 books

Years 5 and 6 - Can borrow 10 books

Parents/Caregivers - Can borrow 10 books

Please remember to bring your library bag (Reception and Year 1/2), and return any overdue books to start borrowing again. Books can be kept for up to 2 weeks. If you’ve forgotten to return a book, don’t worry – just drop it in the returns box when you get the chance!

Returns

Students can return books by placing them in their classroom library box or directly into the green returns box in Tirkandi. Please note that only staff members are allowed to return books and use the returns computer. If a book is returned damaged, please place it in the Book Doctor box for repairs.

Computer Borrowing

Library computer borrowing is available only for students in Years 3 to 6. The borrowing period runs from 8:40am to 8:50am. Computers can be borrowed by those who have either damaged their own computers or forgotten to bring them to school.

When you borrow a computer, we will record your name, class, and the computer's barcode. Each student must borrow a computer under their own name.

Please remember that all borrowed computers must be returned to the library by the end of the day. If a student forgets to return their computer three times, they will be unable to borrow for three days. Should this happen again, the borrowing restriction period will be extended.

Please note that these computers are secondhand, so they may be slower or have keys that are a bit tricky to use. If you notice any other damages, please inform your teachers, IT staff, or me directly.

Overdue, Lost or Damaged Books

The school library policy regarding overdue, lost, or damaged books is as follows:

If a library book is overdue or lost for 2 weeks or more, or if it is returned damaged, a fee of $15 will be charged. However, if the book is found or returned, you will be reimbursed the full amount.

Please note that students will not be able to borrow any additional books until the overdue book is returned or the payment is made. The fees collected are used to replace the lost or damaged book. Thank you for your understanding!

Library Open Times for Families:

Our library is now open Monday to Friday for families to come in, borrow books, or enjoy some quiet reading time:

Monday to Friday:

Before school: 8:30–8:50am

After school: 3:10–3:30pm

Happy reading!
