We are very pleased to officially welcome Kerrilea Wheeler to our LNPS community as our new Pastoral Care Worker. Kerrilea will be on site every Wednesday and Friday to support our students, staff and families.
Kerrilea brings with her a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for supporting the wellbeing of students, staff and families alike. We are confident that her presence will be a wonderful addition to our school and will positively contribute to the care and support offered within our community. She is excited to work alongside everyone in our school community.
My name is Kerrilea, and I’m the new Pastoral Care Worker. I will be available at the school on Wednesdays and Fridays. I work alongside teachers and students, supporting emotional wellbeing as well as practical support and fun activities. Outside of work, I enjoy going to church, playing sports, going to the beach, exploring new places and meeting new people. I look forward to meeting everyone and serving your school community. Please feel free to come and say hello and introduce yourself.
Student Ambassador Initiative - Adopt-a-spot
Our Ambassadors will be implementing one of their new initiatives this week, 'Adopt-a-Spot'. Student Ambassadors have been brainstorming some ideas around how to improve the school grounds. They mentioned that last term, there was a lot of litter building up in certain areas around the school and that they wanted to reduce the amount around our site.
We look forward to seeing our Ambassadors talk about this at Assembly, and then for classrooms to take action on this once a week.
Exciting Opportunities in Terms 2 and 3: Learner Agency Networks
On Monday, 6th June our CE Student Forums team will be collaborating with other local sites to begin conversations around student networks. The networks build on the CE student forums to activate Our Strategy for Public Education in SA, while giving your learners a greater opportunity to share and collaborate with other schools.
The focus of the networks will be learning and performance modes within and beyond the classroom. Understanding these concepts will help teachers and students better understand their roles in the learning process.
These discussions will again be via a video link that our students will access.
The Active Lunch program at Lockleys North has been thriving. Students are enthusiastically participating in a variety of activities designed to promote physical fitness and social interaction. The program has successfully engaged students across different year levels, encouraging them to stay active and enjoy their break times. Our Active Lunch Ambassadors have been doing a terrific job in helping facilitate through the setting up of activities and playing with the students.
We are excited to announce that once a month, we will be producing an LNPS news video. These videos will be showcased at our assemblies and then uploaded to the school's YouTube channel for everyone to enjoy. We are aiming to release our first video at the start of Term 2. Stay tuned for more updates!
