Principal News - Term 2 Week 1

Welcome back to term 2! I hope that you were all able to enjoy some of the fabulous weather that we were fortunate to have over the break. This week is a short one and I am delighted to say that the students have started the term off as equally well as they did at the beginning of term 1. It was lovely to see so many happy faces along with waves and squeals of delight as students were reunited on Wednesday morning.

Curriculum Day

On Tuesday, teachers spent the day working on Assessment and Reporting with a focus on our new-look student reports for 2025. There have been additions made to student reports that will give families further information about their child’s achievements in all areas of the Curriculum.

ANZAC DAY

Tomorrow our student leaders will be participating in the ANZAC Dawn service at Eltham. Students will be laying a wreath to honour and remember the soldiers from Australia and New Zealand who served and died in wars, especially during the Gallipoli campaign in World War I. The wreaths are a symbol of respect, mourning, and gratitudeand our students are looking forward to participating in the service.

Year 5 Camp

Next week our lucky year 5 students will be attending camp. On Wednesday they will depart for Forest Edge where they will be involved in a variety of camp-based activities. Once again, I wish to thank the year 5/ 6 teachers for the extensive work carried out leading up to the camp as well as the long days that are a part of running the actual camp. I know that your children will have a fantastic time, and I wish them well!

Uniform Community Consultation

Thank you to those families that completed the Uniform survey. It was wonderful to receive such a high rate of response as it gives us balanced and accurate feedback on this important issue. Thank you to those who took the time to leave detailed feedback in the open comments box. These have been gratefully received and will be carefully considered by School Council to make the best decision for our community moving forward.

Assembly

Our first assembly for term 2 will be held next Monday at 9am on the assembly court. Last term I shared with you that we will be holding assemblies on Monday mornings moving forward as part of our SunSmart policy. We are currently exploring options to return our assembly to Friday afternoons and are working on ways of providing multiple forms of sun protection for students and staff as required when the UV is above 3.

For those of you heading away for the long weekend, I wish you safe travels. For those attending the dawn service tomorrow, I look forward to seeing you there.
