Grade 3/4 students have been working hard on the Term 2 topic, which focuses on saying and writing the date, their birthdate, and age — all closely related to Chinese numbers. Mastering numbers is key. Since last week, they have been practising writing random Chinese number characters from 1 to 100. This week, they are participating in six different classroom activities. Students are encouraged to challenge themselves at their own level, and most students can now write numbers from 1 to 100 with ease. This is a big improvement.

Grade 5/6 students are continuing with the Spring Festival topic in Term 2. The reason for extending this topic is that the 15-day celebration includes a wide range of cultural events and traditions, which require time to explore and understand.

Over the past 2–3 weeks, students have been learning about hong bao (red envelopes), which adults give to children as lucky money, and Chinese couplets, which are created and displayed to bring good fortune into the home during the Lunar New Year.

They have been enthusiastically creating their own couplets, and this week, three students completed theirs, which we captured in photos.
