From The Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a fantastic week we had last week celebrating our Mother’s Day and Special Person’s Breakfast in the stadium on Friday. It was wonderful to be able to support this occasion across our school and see so many people attend the occasion.

We also played in the stadium a special tribute to our special person in our lives.  Here is the video if you were unable to attend.

Following on from the breakfast was our Parents and Friends Special Carers stall, which had a huge array of gifts for students to select from.  We had a terrific team of parents assisting the stall with some help from our student leaders.  A big thank you to the parents who assisted on the day.  All funds raised will go towards a new Grade 5-6 playground to be installed at the end of the year.

This week we have a number of events on for the week. We have Pirate Day on Wednesday 14th May. This event has been organised by our Junior School Council and the money raised will go towards the Cancer council.

This week we are also celebrating Education Week by conducting our Book Fair and holding our Grandparents' and Specials Persons' Day on Friday 16th May from 9.00- 10.30am in the classrooms, followed by morning tea in the stadium. The morning tea is set aside for the Grandparents and special guests, if students are in attendance they may wish to bring their morning snack.

There will also be a photo booth placed in the corridor opposite 1D and 3A for photos to be taken with your child and special carer.  There will be a range of activities in all classrooms for visitors to see and we look forward to sharing this occasion with you.

We also had students in Grade 3-6 represent the school in Ballarat and District Cross Country at Ballarat High School. Congratulations on these students for representing our school and to those who have made it to the next division of Regional Cross Country.

On Wednesday our Grade 5-6 students represented the school in soccer and played many of the local Ballarat school teams. We had a mixture of boys and girls playing and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thank you to Mr Storey, Mr Zerafa and Ms Mc Cutcheon who managed the teams for the day.

As of next week, our teachers and students head into Assessment week and this will provide evidence for our teachers to complete their analysis on where the student's growth has moved to and begin the process of writing the reports. On Tuesday 3rd June, teachers will have a report writing day (student free) to complete their reports. The reports will be posted on Compass on Monday 23rd June.

Our Parent teacher interviews will occur in the last week of school. This will take place on Wednesday 2nd July at 1.00pm- 5.30pm which will mean that students will finish school at 12.30pm on this day. Bookings for the appointments will come out later in the term.

Staffing update

As of Monday 19th May to Sunday 1st June, I will step into role in our Regional Office to replace Mrs Anne Gawith who has moved into Executive Director role of Central Highlands.  Mrs Stephanie Lindsay will be Acting Principal during my absence.
