Year 10 Jersey Handout

On Monday 26th May, our Year 10 cohort received their senior jerseys, just in time for the cooler weather! Mr Stewart spoke to the Year 10 students about wearing their jerseys with pride and remembering they were representing the school when wearing the jerseys.

The students were very excited to receive their jerseys!

From Farm to the Staffroom

This week, our Year 9 and 10 Agriculture students brought smiles and sunshine into the school with a beautiful gesture that brightened everyone’s day.

With care and creativity, they bundled the flowers into mini posies and personally delivered them to staff across the school. Classrooms, offices, and staffrooms were suddenly filled with the sweet scents and vibrant colours of locally grown kindness.

UNE Science Discovery - Secondary

UNE Science Discovery Day was a hands-on learning experience to help develop secondary students' interest in Science. The various interactive experiments were led by UNE staff and were fun and engaging. The different experiments allowed students to continue developing science skills, and it was a thoroughly enjoyable session.

We thank UNE for coming to St Philomena’s.

Trampoline Weaving

Over the past few weeks, students from both our primary (Years 5 and 6) and secondary have been working together on an exciting community art project – trampoline weaving! What started as a simple old trampoline has become the frame for a colourful and meaningful collaborative artwork.

Using recycled materials like fabric strips, yarn, wool, and handmade rope, students have created a meaningful design using the trampoline’s springs and frame to create a large-scale woven design. The project has not only encouraged creative expression but also teamwork, patience, and a shared sense of pride.

The final result will be a unique piece of community art that reflects the energy, imagination, and collaboration of our young artists, which will be on display at BAMM.

Stage 5 Commerce

Stage 5 Commerce, the class that has been running the Milo and Bacon & Egg Vinnies Winter Appeal Fundraiser this term, had a business board meeting today. This board meeting was designed to discuss the business decisions that were made throughout the term and evaluate the effectiveness of those decisions. This was the final requirement for their assessment task. Great job to all of these Commerce students!

Year 10 Military Museum Excursion

Year 10 students have been learning about the Vietnam War during History this term. This week, students visited the Moree Military Museum. At the museum, they looked at artefacts from the Vietnam War and were even allowed to touch some of the artefacts. The students were also very lucky to be able to listen to stories from two Vietnam Veterans and then ask them questions about their experiences. It was a somber and worthwhile excursion.
