Specialist Subjects

P.E - Auslan - STEAM

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Our Junior students are currently developing and extending their catching skills. They have experimented catching different sized objects and challenging themselves to catch over far distances.

Our Middle and Senior students have begun a Target Games unit. This has involved playing modified versions of golf (such as frisbee golf), bocce and quoits. We will continue exploring many more Target Games and how accuracy and control can be manipulated to be successful.

LOTE - AUSLAN

In LOTE, the middle and senior students have been focusing on signing sentences about their feelings. This has included creating sentences that include a feeling sign associated with an activity, for example - 'I feel happy when I play with my friends'. It's been great to see students extend themselves to signing full detailed sentences.

Our junior students have been focusing on signing sentences about their colours and transferring this knowledge to their zones of regulation.  They have created sentences regarding their own feelings, for example- 'Today I feel green, I feel focused and ready to learn.'

STEAM: Science, Technology & The Arts

Welcome to STEAM for term 2. This term we are looking at Earth Space Science. The Prep-2s have looked at Day and Night and the Seasons and we enjoyed  making our Agamagraphs!  The 5-6's have been consolidating their understanding of the relationship of the Earth, Moon and Sun and are extending their investigations to the Planets of our Solar System.

The 3-4's have looked at the relationship of the Earth, Moon and Sun and the language of axis, rotation and revolutions. We made a model of the phases of the Moon and used printing to create the surface of the Moon. We had a visitor from the CSIRO visit to expand our knowledge and understanding of Day and Night. We were shown a great 3D model demonstrating the spinning of the Earth to reinforce the connection. Thank you to Ranuka for her time!
