Dear OPS community,
Welcome to Term 2! I would like to thank all OPS students, staff and families for the warm welcome I have received at Officer Primary School, it has been wonderful getting to know the community over the past few weeks. It has been pleasing to see that the kids have had a smooth start to the term and have settled back into their routines quickly.
A highlight over the last few weeks as the new Principal has been the OPS whole school assembly, I have loved seeing the students come together as a community and celebrate being positive role models through the fortnightly G.R.O.W.TH awards. Awesome work team!

Building Works & New Furniture Update
The OPS staff had a very busy holidays moving out of the old Administration Building into our new Administration Building, a huge thank you to our staff for ensuring that our new administration building was ready for the start of Term 2. The next stage of our building works will be the removal of the old administration building, and the restoration of the asphalt and garden beds between learning Neighbourhood 1 & 2. I will keep you updated with timelines as the project progresses.
We were very excited on Monday when our new furniture arrived for our Prep, Grade 1/2, STEAM and Auslan rooms, the addition of our new furniture has certainly helped to make our learning spaces inviting and engaging for the students. Our new Library furniture will be arriving in the next few weeks.
ANZAC Assembly
Thank you to our student leadership team and captains for leading a respectful and thoughtful ceremony for ANZAC Day, the student leaders were extremely knowledgeable when presenting at assembly. On ANZAC Day I was joined by some of our students, staff and community members for the dawn service at Rob Porter Reserve. Alethia and Zahra represented OPS with a reading of a poem and the laying of the wreath. I was very impressed with the way our students demonstrated our G.R.O.W.T.H values to the wider community at the service.
Colour Fun Run
The OPS Colour Fun Run was a huge success. When asking students about their highlight of the afternoon it was without a doubt watching Mr Azadzoi get slimed. I would like to thank Mati for coming in for his ‘sliming’ and helping to make this a memorable afternoon for our community. I would also like to express many thanks to our PFA and staff as this event would not happen without them.
Cross Country & District Cross Country
We were fortunate enough to have 19 students compete at District Cross Country a few weeks ago. It was fantastic to see our OPS students demonstrating our G.R.O.W.T.H values, trying their best and supporting their team mates to do their best. We have a further 6 students going through to division next week.
Women We Love Breakfast & Stall
On Friday 9th of May, we hosted our ‘Women We Love’ breakfast in the Centenary Gardens, this was a lovely community event where we were able to show gratitude and appreciation to the special women in our lives. It was great to see so many families come along to enjoy breakfast together. A big thank you to all the staff for preparing, cooking and serving breakfast and a huge shout out to Emily Waldron for organising this event for our community.
Our Women We Love stall was very successful again this year. Thank you to our PFA for ensuring that our students have his opportunity.
Grade 3-6 Camp Manyung
On the 25th June our Grade 3-6 students will be heading off to Camp Manyung for three days. This is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their independence, boost confidence, learn new skills, build new friendships and experience new environments. Thanks to those who have begun payments and returned forms to the office already.
Spread the Word: School Tours
Please share with your family and friends that school tours are occurring every week during Term 2 at Officer Primary.
