Term 1 Week 8
Well we made it to the end of the week. As foreshadowed last week it has been a really busy one with one highlight being the visit from our federal member of parliament Peter Khalil and the Minister for Veterans Affairs, Matt Keogh who came to visit the school and meet with our Year 10 student leaders. The student had the opportunity to sit down with them and explore a variety of questions ranging from the current conflict in the Middle East to the potential for work experience placements. As ever our students were absolutely fantastic and engaged with the MPs in a mature and impressive manner.
We also had students visiting ACU and our Year 8 students taking on the local schools in Volleyball and Futsal, all whilst our tireless School Council team have been preparing for our market and open day tomorrow.
Looking ahead to next week
Saturday 21st - Second hand Market and School Open Day: The day has finally arrive. Please come along and check out the bargains that have been donated by our school community, lots of great treasures to be had for a great price. The Market is running from 10 - 2 and in addition to the treasure you can pick up a sausage and a coffee, will all proceeds going back to the school. And if you have any families that are considering FHS for their child in the future, or are just interested in their local school, tell them to come along and join in our school tours running at 11, 12 and 1. We would love to see you there.
Monday 23rd - Victorian Maths Game Challenge continues: Our maths high flyers are at it again on Monday taking on students from around the state. Go team.
Tuesday 24th - Likely Stop Work Day: At this point we are still looking down the barrell of a stop-work action on Tuesday. Keep an eye out on Monday for final details on how classes will be affected on the day but expect serious disruption.
Friday 27th - Lawn bowls school Competition: Students have signed up for the lawn bowls competition that is running on Friday. Should a great day of high octane action on the green at the Fitzroy Bowls Club.
