Around the Classrooms
Design Technology
Throughout this term students have been learning basic woodworking skills including tool use and safety. Students have worked through 2 major projects which included a door wedge and an initial plaque. Next term students will create a pencil box and jigsaw puzzle.
English
In English, we have been learning how to write narrative stories and how to plan them out. We used a planning sheet to show things like the climax, theme and the setting. We learnt that the protagonist and antagonist are the good and bad guys.
We have used the method of ‘plot mountain’ to show how the story progresses and used that to write our narratives. We have also learnt about allegories and morals, for example: “Crimson’s greed brought his end”. The moral is to only take what you need. That is what we have learnt so far in English term 1.
