Dear Families,

As we are on the downhill stretch to the end of term, let’s remember to celebrate more moments of pride, joy, and efforts at Niangala Public School! Easter is not far away….. personally, I am close to devastated that I have not yet consumed a hot cross bun nor an easter egg!! Normally I would have devoured quite a few by now – think it is sign of how quickly the year the flying by!

At Niangala Public School we really value the sense of community that comes from living in a small country town. Recent events—the local country show and our Small School Swimming Carnival—reminded me just how special it is to come together and celebrate what makes our school and community unique.

Our small swimming carnival was filled with laughter and excitement as students challenged themselves, set personal goals, and supported their friends. The smaller scale meant every child was noticed and celebrated, whether winning a race or simply building up the courage to enter the water and doing their best. Families, staff and students delighted in the positive, supportive atmosphere.

We then went to visit the show for the excursion experiencing how our local town show brings people together, giving students the chance to connect with local traditions and see the many ways they may showcase their talents. Whether you are into gardening, knitting, Lego making, flower arranging, cooking, livestock, photography, visual arts or chooks – you have a platform to share your passion and interests and to appreciate the talents of other members of the community. The treasure maps looked impressive as our display, looking at all the other schools’ entries too clearly showed some very clever talent in our younger generations. Friendly competition and participation in the show strengthens teamwork and teaches valuable lessons about community. Next year we might have to ramp up the entries for a bit of fun and healthy competition!

There were many positive comments of feedback given to staff about the way the Niangala students conducted themselves. We were also fortunate to have various special visitors to our school this week. The visiting dentist, Debbie and Merin, made a point to tell us how wonderful our students and families are, and we are grateful for their kind words. Our casual teacher this week was equally generous in her compliments, sharing how impressed she was with both our students and the welcoming nature of our school. Such feedback from community members is a testament to the caring, supportive environment we have created together.

These recent events and kind words are reminders of the importance of coming together, recognising achievements, and celebrating the strengths of our small school community. Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, or made these days memorable.
