Year 7 News
Vermont Secondary College
Congratulation to the Year 7s who have almost completed a full term packed filled with excitement and events. With NAPLAN and a lot of term assessment behind them, the cohort can give themselves a pat on the back for a smooth transition into secondary school life.
A massive shout out to all the Year 7s who took part in Athletics Carnival, the participation rate has been outstanding in all sporting events. Well done to Hotham who won the day in the end- there’s a first for everything! We want to keep up the turnout, so get ready for Cross-Country next Wednesday the 25th of March, which will take place period four, another opportunity for students to represent their house. You don’t need to win- all running abilities can get involved.

On another note, Student Progress Conferences are just around the corner so ensure that you are familiar with the booking process and setting up the online interviews. These meetings are a great way for families to introduce themselves to teachers, check student progress and ask any outstanding questions- all bookings are welcome.
Over the past week there have been a couple of issues regarding lockers. It is essential that all students have a lock (one with a key is preferrable as the Student Managers can keep a copy) and keep it locked throughout the day. Students also must respect the space and belongings of their fellow classmates.
Now that we are well and truly into the year, it is important that students are familiar with the uniform policy. Students are expected to be in full school uniform unless they have PE, if they have PE this is the uniform that is worn to and from school. If a student has sport training or tryouts at lunch or afterschool, they must bring a pair or runners or change into their PE uniform, they are not to wear their PE all day. If a student is unable to wear full school uniform or PE uniform for a particular reason, they must do the following:
Provide a written note from a parent or caregiver, explaining the reason.
The student must see their Student Manager before the beginning of Period 1.
The note must be presented in order to receive a uniform pass for the day.
More Camp Reflections:
Camp this year was truly a wonderful experience with so many highlights along the way. We have a few more reflections that missed out on the previous newsletter here:

The Pizza By Jack
A moment I’ll remember. That one sizzling pizza I waited all day for the smell of crust, but it turns out, I can’t roll out the dough. The tomato pastes all over looked amazing but I couldn’t resist the cheese. We were told to go collect some herbs from the garden. A little taste test and EEWWW!!!! Basil is not for me. Then, the guy came over and said, “try this yellow flower”. It didn’t seem very appetizing, but I knew I had nothing to lose. So here goes nothing… OOOOH! It was awful! I instantly spat it out. Our pizza was ready. We cut it open and WHAT! WHY IS THE PIZZA TRANSLUCENT!!! The dough wasn’t cooked, the sauce tasted disgusting and you couldn’t taste the cheese! It was a disaster!! How could this day get any worse??
P.S I had a loss of appetite for a day
Camp Marysville
Towering trees stand grounded in the mountains. Their luscious green leaves flail with the howling wind, as if they were dancing to the chirp of the melodious birds in the distance. The mountains scattered with scenery stories etched in the very back. All cloaked in fog.
