CAPTAIN'S CORNER

SENIOR CAPTAIN
As Term 2 ramps up for everyone, Year 12 students are heading into one of the busiest parts of the year. With SACs quickly approaching and study schedules starting to fill up, it can become easy to feel stressed and overwhelmed by the sheer workload that demands your time and attention. While this time of year can definitely feel stressful, I find that it’s important to remember that everyone is in the same position and working towards the same goal. Whether it’s preparing notes, attending extra help sessions, or trying to balance school with sport, work, and other commitments, consistency, as well as supporting each other as peers, will make a huge difference over the coming months. Making sure to use all the resources around you, stay organised, and work hard is important, but just remember not to leave everything until the last minute!
Amidst the pressures of SAC season, it’s certainly been great seeing the Year 12 hoodies around the school. Reflecting all the years of hard work and the journey it took to finally reach Year 12, for most students, the hoodie represents much more than just part of the uniform. It’s a culmination of their hard work and the sweet memories of over a decade of schooling. It’s something that students can look back on as a reminder of friendships, memories, and all the wonderful experiences shared throughout school. The students will also keep the hoodies long after graduation as a forever memento of our high school journeys.
Of course, another thing most people can agree on is that they’re also incredibly comfortable, especially during the colder mornings we’ve been having lately.
Although it’s certain that there’s still plenty of work ahead for the Year 12 cohort, it’s also important to mention that we should enjoy the final six months of school life. With events, classes, and everyday moments with friends still ahead of us, there are so many memories left to make before the year comes to an end. While balancing study and wellbeing can sometimes be challenging, these final months are something we’ll only experience once.
Let’s continue to support one another, work hard, and make the most of everything that Year 12 still has to offer.

JUNIOR CAPTAIN
As we move further into Term 2, there are a huge number of exciting events taking place across the school, with one of the most enjoyable experiences being the Year 8 camp and the Model United Nations (Model UN) that is yet to commence. Recently coming to an end, the camp created unforgettable memories for all students involved.
From Friday 1 to Friday 8 May, Year 8 students attended the Kinglake Adventure Camp in groups for an exciting three-day program. The camp gave students the opportunity to build teamwork, confidence, and resilience through a variety of challenging activities.
One of the most popular activities was the giant seesaw, which required strong communication and trust. Many students also enjoyed the Leap of Faith, where peers encouraged one another to overcome their fears. Another highlight was Wildergaining, where groups worked together strategically to complete the challenge successfully.
Sharing cabins with friends also strengthened bonds and added to the overall experience. Overall, the camp was a memorable success, filled with adventure, teamwork, and lasting friendships.
The second major event is the Model United Nations, which will take place on Monday 15 May at the McKinnon Road Campus. This exciting program gives students the opportunity to step into the role of international delegates, representing different countries and discussing important global issues.
This year’s focus is on education, exploring the challenges many young people around the world face in accessing quality learning opportunities. Throughout the event, students will collaborate, debate, and propose solutions while developing valuable skills in public speaking, leadership, teamwork, and diplomacy.
Term 2 is already shaping up to be full of excitement, achievement, and unforgettable memories, and with so many events yet to come, we hope everyone continues to make the most of every moment!
